FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Fayetteville State women's basketball team returns to action on Sunday after an eight-day layoff for final exams.
The opponent for the 2 p.m. tip at Felton Capel Arena is West Virginia Wesleyan, and there's plenty at stake for the nonconference match-up. The Lady Broncos (4-2) take aim at winning two games in a row for the second time this season. It would set the stage nicely for the team's road trip to Florida for two games next week.

KRISTEN HANZER NETS 25 IN LADY BRONCOS 90-79 WIN OVER WVA WESLEYAN
BUCKHANNON, WVA - The Fayetteville State women's basketball team stampeded West Virginia Wesleyan 90-79 with a one-two balanced attack in Buckhannon, WVA. The Lady Broncos scored 27 of the game's first 35 points to take a 27-8 first half lead and close it out 41-34 at halftime.
FSU is fresh off a 72-54 win against Palm Beach Atlantic on Dec. 7 in Raleigh in which junior center Deja Middleton proved unstoppable for the Sailfish. Middleton (Richmond, VA) scored 14 points and grabbed 19 rebounds en route to being named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Player of the Week.
Amber Calvin (Fayetteville, NC) proved adept from outside, hitting four of her nine 3-point attempts and scoring 22 points against the Sailfish.
The Lady Broncos have played WV Wesleyan (2-4) once in program history, a 90-79 win in Buckhannon, WV, last November. In that contest, FSU got 25 points and nine rebounds from eventual conference Player of the Year Kristen Hanzer and 18 from Shuandra Ashford.
FSU built a seven-point halftime lead in that contest and, despite a run that put the Bobcats on top a couple of minutes into the second half, the Lady Broncos retook the lead and won comfortably.
