Middleton averaged 15 points and 15.5 rebounds, earning her the honor of CIAA Player of the Week
Dec. 9, 2013
HAMPTON, VA -- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, in conjunction with the CIAA Sports Information Directors Association, announced its selections for CIAA Player, Newcomer, Rookie and Coach of the Week on Monday evening.
Fayetteville State junior center Deja Middleton (Richmond, VA) was honored as the conference's Player of the Week for her performance on both sides of the court.
It should come as no surprise that the 2010 CIAA Defensive Player of the Year imposed her will on opposing offenses. Middleton had six blocks and collected 19 rebounds in a win against Palm Beach Atlantic on Dec. 7. That, along with an 11-rebound game against Elizabeth City State, pushed her average rebounding total this season into double-digits.
Middleton didn't have much trouble finding the basket, either. Against Elizabeth City State, she scored 17 points, then followed that up with a 14-point performance against Palm Beach Atlantic.
The Lady Broncos are 4-2 this season and have a home date with West Virginia Wesleyan at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
