De'Aira Smith was named the 2012 NCISSA Class `A' Player of the Year

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Fayetteville State women's basketball program has announced the signing of De'Aira Smith, of Trinity Christian Academy in Fayetteville, NC, to a National Letter of Intent for the Lady Broncos 2013-14 season.
"De'Aira is a consummate basketball player and an athletic, fearless competitor who plays every play like it is her last," said Head Coach Eva Patterson-Heath. "She possesses a high basketball IQ. Couple that with a great work ethic and she will see action early as a collegiate freshman. De'Aira knows how to win being a part of back-to-back state championship teams."
A three-time NCISSA Class `A' All-State and All-Region honoree, Smith was part of back-to-back state championship seasons at Trinity Christian in 2011-12 and 2012-13 under Head Coach Charles Tubbs. The program posted a 17-4 overall record in 2011-12 and followed with a 20-5 mark this past season.
De'Aira Smith was named the 2012 NCISSA Class `A' Player of the Year following a senior season average of 15.2 points and eight rebounds per game. The 5-9 guard averaged five assists, three steals and two blocks per game en route to also being selected as the Crusaders' Female Athlete of the Year.
As a junior, she averaged a double-double with 16.5 points and 10.7 rebounds per game along with 3.9 assists and 3.8 steals.
Smith is a standout student in the classroom as well. She is a member of the National Honor Society and will graduate from Trinity Christian as the school's Valedictorian.
