The CIAA Basketball Tournament will be held in the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, NC

CHARLOTTE, NC - The CIAA Tournament Bracket is set with Fayetteville State prepping for the programs fourth conference title and second under Head Coach Eva Patterson-Heath.

The Lady Broncos finished the CIAA Southern Division with the same record as Shaw University; with both teams splitting head-to-head during the regular season. Fayetteville State (22-4 overall, 14-2 CIAA, 8-2 Division) defeated St. Augustine's 77-63 yesterday to secure a one-game conference lead over the Bears and sole rights to the Divisional Crown.

As the No. 1 Seed from the South, Fayetteville State will receive a bye in the tourney's first round and face the winner of the #4N Lincoln (Pa.) vs. #5S Johnson C. Smith game on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 pm. The winner will move forward to play the winner of the #2N Virginia Union vs. #3N Virginia State/#6S Livingstone games at 1:00pm on Friday.

Fayetteville State faced the Lady Lions of Lincoln (Pa.) earlier this season in Felton J. Capel Arena. The Lady Broncos surged past Lincoln (Pa.) 72-59 in the January 10th match-up. FSU led at halftime 38-31. Four of the five FSU starters scored in double-digits. Kristen Hanzer (senior - Youngsville, NC), the CIAA Player of the Year, topped all with 18 points.

FSU swept the Lady Golden Bulls by scores of 71-62 and 81-48. The Lady Broncos overcame a two-point halftime deficit (32-30) to pick up the victory. Kristen Hanzer scored a game-high 19 points.

As the Lady Broncos analyze the bracket and possible future opponents, FSU defeated #2N Virginia Union on January 12th 76-51 and #3N Virginia State 57-51 on January 5th. FSU split with divisional opponent Livingstone with an 83-78 loss in Salisbury and 79-49 victory at home on February 13.

Under Eva Patterson-Heath, Fayetteville State defeated Bowie State 66-50 for the 2010 CIAA crown in her inaugural collegiate season. The Lady Broncos failed in the first round in 2011 and 12 to Virginia State (65-44) and Chowan (51-50).
