HAMPTON, Va. - The future looks bright for Fayetteville State basketball, both for the Broncos and the Lady Broncos.

Fayetteville State freshmen Anthony Shelton and Bria Robinson were each named to the CIAA's respective All-Rookie teams on Tuesday, the league office announced.

A two-time CIAA Rookie of the Week, Shelton, a 6-foot-1 guard from Cary, N.C., opened the season in the starting lineup for a team that welcomed back six seniors. Shelton emerged further when his team has needed him the most, setting a new career-high for points scored in a single game with 22 in a win at Livingstone, the third-most points a Broncos player has scored in a game this season. Shelton adds 2.0 assists per game as well as 1.7 rebounds per game to his 7.3 ppg average, all done in just 20.4 minutes per game.

Robinson, a 6-4 center from Belmont, N.C., is a two-time CIAA Rookie of the Week honoree, and has given the Lady Broncos a significant boost to the lineup off the bench, averaging 6.3 ppg, 4.6 rpg and 1.6 blocks per game in just 16.3 minutes per game. Robinson ranks fourth in the CIAA in blocked shots, and is shooting 50 percent from the field during her freshman season.

Winston-Salem State's Wykevin Bazemore and Virgina Union's Ashle Freeman were named the CIAA Men's and Women's Rookies of the Year, respectively.
