FAYETTEVILLE, NC –
The 25th-ranked Fayetteville State Lady Broncos wrap up a three-game home stand on Wednesday evening when it hosts the Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Broncos suffered their only conference loss of the season to Livingstone on Jan. 23 in Salisbury. FSU is coming off its largest conference win of the season on Feb. 9 over Johnson C. Smith, 81-48.


Lady Bronco Storylines
Fayetteville State will look to avenge its only conference loss of the season on Wednesday night as it hosts the Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears inside Felton J. Capel Arena.


FSU enters the midweek contest with a 19-3 overall record and 11-1 mark in conference games. Fayetteville State is tied for first in the CIAA Southern Division standings with a 5-1 record.

The Lady Broncos are looking to capture their tenth 20-win season in program history with a win on Wednesday. FSU last won 20 or more game in 2009-10 when it tallied a 20-10 record.

Kristen Hanzer (Sr., Youngsville, NC) leads Fayetteville State in scoring this season with 18.7 points per game. She also ranks second in the conference in scoring and is fifth in field-goal percentage (47.7).

Shuanda Ashford (Sr., Fayetteville, NC) is second on the team in both scoring and rebounding. The East Carolina transfer averages 14.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. She ranks sixth in the conference in scoring and third in field-goal percentage at 54.1 percent.

Akysia Resper (Jr., Concord, NC) is the last of three players to be averaging in double-figures this season. She averages 10.9 points per game while dishing out a team-best 3.9 assists per contest. Resper also leads the conference in total assists with 85.

Tierra Coleman (Sr., Cameron, NC) leads the team in rebounding at 7.8 per game. She is fourth in the league in rebounds per game and tied for third in total rebounds with 171.

Fayetteville State has the league’s second-best scoring offense at 73.4 points per game while ranking fifth in scoring defense (60.3). In conference games only, FSU is second in scoring offense and fourth in scoring defense.

The Lady Broncos are in their 61st season as a program and has compiled an all-time record of 575-395 and 328-240 record in the CIAA. Since joining the CIAA in 1953-54, Fayetteville State has tallied nine 20-win seasons including a school-record 25 in 1996-97. FSU has made five NCAA Division II Playoff appearances with the last coming in 2009-10.

Johnson C. Smith Recap
Ashford led Fayetteville State with 23 points in an 81-48 rout of Johnson C. Smith on Feb. 9. Hanzer contributed 19 points and nine steals. Resper had 15 points and five assists.


The Lady Broncos opened the second half with a 23-6 run forcing the Lady Golden Bulls into 24 total turnovers. The 24 total miscues contributed to 22 FSU points. The Lady Broncos scored 50 points in the low key compared to JCSU's 24.

For the game, FSU shot 54% (34-of-63) in field goals and made 10-of-12 (83.3%) from the charity stripe. Fayetteville State led by as many as 38 with 3:37 left to play. Johnson C. Smith finished 32.7% from the floor and made 9-of-12 (75%) in free throws.

Livingstone Scouting Report
Livingstone enters the matchup with a 7-14 overall record and 3-9 mark in conference play. The Lady Blue Bears are sixth in the Southern Division with a 1-5 record.


LC is led by fifth-year Head Coach Angelyne Brown. She holds a 49-83 mark with the program and 212-253 record in 19 years as a head coach.

The Lady Blue Bears are led on offense by Cierra York with 11.4 points and is tied for first at 6.2 rebounds per game. Jasmine Murray contributes 10.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.

Livingstone ranks fifth in the league in scoring offense (68.3) and 12th in scoring defense (71.3). In conference games only, the Lady Blue Bears are fifth in scoring offense and 12th in scoring defense.

All-Time Series With Livingstone
The matchup will mark the 67th all-time meeting between Fayetteville State and Livingstone. The Lady Broncos lead the all-time series 49-17.


The Lady Blue Bears defeated Fayetteville State 83-78 in Salisbury on Jan. 23. It has been the only conference loss this season for the Lady Broncos.

FSU was victorious over Livingstone in the last contest at Felton J. Capel Arena, 78-71, on Feb. 20, 2012.

SECOND HALF FREE THROWS LIFT LIVINGSTONE OVER LADY BRONCOS 83-78
SALISBURY, NC -Livingstone College made six free-throws in the final 35 seconds on Wednesday evening to defeat the Lady Broncos 83-78 at Trent Gymnasium. Fayetteville State led by three at halftime (40-37) but could not capitalize on late free throws; as they fall to 15-3 overall, 7-1 in league play and 1-1 within the division. Akysia Resper (Jr., Concord, NC) scored a team-high 18 points for FSU.
