Fayetteville, NC – The Fayetteville State women’s basketball program claimed its 12th CIAA Divisional Title after defeating Shaw University, 66-56, in C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium to remain unbeaten (9-0) in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s Southern Division. The Broncos current win-streak has improved to 11 games.

The Broncos (15-9 Overall, 10-5 CIAA, 9-0 South) had a slow start against the depleted Bears (6-21, 3-12, 2-7). Shaw, who had six players dressed for senior night, led the first quarter (21-15) and at halftime 34-28.

Fayetteville State picked up the pace in the second half, taking a 17-11 third period, and closing out the game with a 21-11 fourth quarter. FSU scored 32 of its 48 points in the paint in the second half. The Broncos also tallied 24 fast break points and 20 points off turnovers from the 20 committed turnovers by the Bears.

Emily Davis had a game-high 15 points for Shaw University while Raquel Kellow had ten.

Fayetteville State will honor its seniors on Saturday, February 24th following its regular-season finale against Saint Augustine’s University. Gametime is slated for 2:00 p.m.
