Salisbury, NC - The Lady Broncos maintains their winning ways with an 85-75 win over the Lady Blue Bears of Livingstone College in women's basketball action Tuesday evening inside Trent Gymnasium.
Senior guard Leticia Dickson had a game-high 28 points, with three assists and three steals. This was Dickson's eighth straight game as the Lady Broncos leading scorer and her sixth consecutive 20-plus point performance. Fayetteville State is 5-1 when Dickson scores 20 or more points.
FSU kept the Lady Blue Bears off balance in transition; outscoring Livingstone 13-2 in fast break points. The contest remained close in the first half, but the Lady Broncos were up at the end of the period 41-36. Coming out after the half, Fayetteville State eventually snatched control of the game with a 23-2 scoring run that started at the 13:36 mark and lasted nearly seven minutes.
Livingstone would make a run towards the end of the second half to close the scoring gap slightly, but FSU would still leave Trent Gymnasium with an 85-75 victory. The Lady Blue Bears leading scorer was Clintoria Bryant with 23 points, while guard Lina Brown pitched in 20 points and nine rebounds.
Junior guard Jamara McMillan was a big-time contributor for the Lady Broncos with 18 points and two steals, while sophomore forward Patricia Holmes and freshman forward Erica Gilley rounded out the FSU top scorers, both producing nine points.
The win improves the Lady Broncos record to 10-7 overall and 7-2 in the CIAA. This victory also marks their third consecutive win. Fayetteville State returns to action Thursday, when they square off against the Lady Bears of Shaw University in Raleigh, NC. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
