Fayetteville, NC- The Fayetteville State women’s basketball team delivered with another great performance in Felton J. Capel Arena with a 90-76 victory over Livingstone College. Fayetteville State (6-9 overall, 2-5 conference) improves to 6-4 in games at home and 2-0 in the CIAA Southern Division. The Blue Bears dropped to 5-12 overall and 0-7 in conference play.

It was a dominant win from start-to-finish, the Broncos led by as many as 24 points and never trailed. After the first quarter, the Blue Bears did not come within six (6) points of the lead.

Six (6) Fayetteville State players, including all five (5) starters scored in double-digits to contribute to the rout. Leading the pack for the Broncos was Noni Kuumba (Tracy, CA) with a season-high 21 points. Shantel Bennett (Sanford, NC) finished with 15 points. Yakima Clifton (Durham, NC) and Courtney Best (Raleigh, NC) had 12 points. Breona Jones (Henderson, NC) and Jamesha Mosley (Oak Grove, KY) had 10 points each.



The Broncos outrebounded Livingstone 45-31.

In the first quarter, Fayetteville State jumped out to an early 20-8 lead and shot 64% from the field overall to maintain the lead.

At halftime, Kuumba tied her season-high with 14 points.

Kyala Searcy and Taylor Perkins of Livingstone combined for 54 points (29 and 25, respectively). I’Keya Bland had 10 points.

The Broncos will travel to Winston-Salem, NC January 24th to take on Winston-Salem State at 5:30 p.m.
