Hinson rejoined the Broncos' family after serving nearly six years as the Director of Sports Information at fellow Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) institution, Johnson C. Smith University. Prior to relocating to Charlotte, NC, Hinson served two years as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Fayetteville State.

Hinson currently serves as the institutional representative to the media for all athletic activities; as well as working alongside the University Public Relations Director. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, coordinating media relations and game operation activities; writing and distributing press releases and media guides; maintaining the athletic website, compiling team statistical information, and other duties as assigned.

In an attempt to contribute to the growth of the CIAA, Hinson serves as a contributing member of the Management Council. The CIAA Management Council is responsible for structuring members and objectives to various task groups such as: special events and initiatives, student-athlete welfare, championship site selection, and awards. Hinson was appointed to his management council seat after being elected president of the CIAA Sports Information Directors Association (CIAA-SIDA).

Hinson covered Johnson C. Smith University athletics through a men's and women's basketball CIAA Championship seasons, hosting the 2010 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, and the launch of the Commemorative Classic (annual football clash between JCSU and Livingstone College).

"I'm grateful for this opportunity to reconnect with the city of Fayetteville and achieve positive, national exposure by telling the stories of Fayetteville State University Athletics," said Hinson. "I look forward to working alongside our athletic director Dr. Edward McLean as well as the entire athletic staff at FSU. To our esteemed chancellor, Dr. James Anderson, thanks for allowing me to serve the university and advance my career.

Committed to professional growth and service on a personal and professional level, Hinson currently serves on three committees for College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is also a member of the Barry University School of Business Alumni Association and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.

A native of Fayetteville, NC, Hinson graduated cum laude from Fayetteville State University in 2003 with a bachelor's in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration. He later earned a master's in Business Administration and in Sports Management from Barry University in 2006.
