April 3, 2007 Fayetteville State golfers had to come from behind and then held off Bridgewater College to win the 36th Annual Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the 6,024-yard, par 70 course. Fayetteville State and Bridgewater both shot a final round 274. But the Broncos held on to their 13 strokes lead from the first round to outdistance themselves from Bridgewater. Bridgewater shot a first round total 306 while the Bronco' golfers shot a 293. The margin was too much for Bridgewater to overcome and the Broncos claimed their second Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Championship. FSU, playing on the Scarlet Course, finished the 36 holes six strokes better than Bridgewater College. Fayetteville State three-day total was 293-289-274=856. Freshman Joel Lynn led the Broncos with a 70-70-67-207 three strokes under par. The first-place finish by the Broncos is their third-consecutive tournament win of the 2007 spring season.
