PETERSBURG, VA – The Fayetteville State men’s golf team wrapped up its 2012 fall season with a fourth-place finish at the VSU Trojan Fall Classic. The Broncos finished second out of five teams among Division II participants at the two-day event held at the par 72, 6,605 yard Dogwood Trace Golf Club.
Fayetteville State posted a team score of 639 (314, 325) at the event, while Savannah State captured the overall event with a 603 (299, 304). Host Virginia State finished third overall and first in the Division II section with a 634 (317, 317). A total of eight teams, two Division I and six Division II, competed in the event.
Spencer Goodnough (Fr., Fayetteville, NC) and Brandon Jobe (So., Fayetteville, NC) were the top two finishers for the Broncos, and were selected to the All-Tournament Team. Jobe recorded the lowest score of the day with a 4-over 76. He finished the tournament tied for seventh place with a 155 (+11). Goodnough shot a 79 in the final round to tie for ninth place with a 156 (+12)
Jacob Barge (Sr., Fayetteville, NC) and Michael Wallace (Sr., Fayetteville, NC) both tied for 20th place with scores of 165 (+21). Barge posted a second round score of 87 and Wallace an 85. Justin Smith (Fr., Lillington, NC) shot a final round 85 to finish in 31st place with a 170 (+26).
