PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Fayetteville State University took home their fourth consecutive Division II title at the 23rd PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship with a three-day total of 6-under-par 858. Lincoln University of Jefferson City, Mo., finished in second place, 34-strokes behind. Virginia State University finished in third place overall. Joel Lynn (Sanford, NC) led the Broncos with a 7-under-par 209 total.

Head Coach Raymond McDougal was very proud of how his team fared.

"This is probably the best group we have ever had at this university," said McDougal. "We had a full schedule of tournaments leading up to this event but my players wanted to make it here to compete and win."

Joel Lynn was first on the leader-board during the first two rounds with a low score of 67 (5-under-par). Teammates Jeremy Ringled and Derek Scott (both of Hope Mills, NC) finished the tournament with an Even score 216 for a tied ranking of third place. Kevin Lyles (Charlotte, NC) finished fifth with a 1-over par 217. William McClure (Fayetteville, NC) was tied for 22nd with a 247 score.

The Broncos finished second at the NCAA Super Regionals prior to the PGA Tournament and has qualified for the NCAA National Championships in Blaine, WA.
