FAYETTEVILLE STATE GOLF CLAIMS FIRST PLACE IN THE ECSU VIKING CHALLENGE

Elizabeth City, NC - The Fayetteville State University golf team shot 324 (+36) to earn first place in the Elizabeth City State Viking Challenge hosted by ECSU on Sunday, April 9th at the par 72, 6682 yard, blue tees course at the Pines of Elizabeth City. Sophomore Isaiah Shaw (Altamonte Springs, FL) shot an impressive 71 (-1) to claim the individual medalist honors.

Elizabeth City State University also participated in the tournament. ECSU finished in second with a score of 394.

Sophomore Christian Villanueva (Fayetteville, NC) took fourth on the leaderboard shooting nine over with an 81. Sophomore Adam Capps (Salemburg, NC) was just one behind Villanueva in fifth with a score of 83 (+11).

Sophomore Nick Pennix (Mebane, NC) finished tied for sixth overall by firing 89 (+17). Junior Austen Parlett (Hope Mills, NC) rounded out the Bronco golfers with a score of 98 (+26) for ninth on the leaderboard.

The Broncos will compete for a conference title April 12-14 when they travel Glen Allen, VA to participate in the 2017 CIAA Golf Championships. Fayetteville State will attempt to claim the CIAA title for the first time since 2012.
