CAMP LEJEUNE, NC - Add another sterling finish this season to Fayetteville State's freshman sensation, golfer John Cole.
A week after winning the CIAA Northern Division Tournament, Cole returned with a blistering performance at the 2011 Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at Camp LeJeune's Paradise Point Golf Club to place second in the Scarlet Course Championship.
Cole, a Fayetteville, NC, native, fired rounds of 69, 76 and 66 on the par-70 Scarlet Course and the par-72 Gold Course to finish at 1-under-par 211, good for a tie with three others and just a shot back of winner Mike Dowd of Hampden Sydney (863), which won the tournament.
Cole has won three times in his inaugural golf season at the collegiate level.
Fayetteville State placed 13th out of 16 total teams in its division after a three-day total of 907.
