FSU GOLF INKS LOCAL STANDOUT - JOHN MICHAEL COLE

John Michael Cole realized a dream on Tuesday. A Fayetteville native and 2010 graduate of Cape Fear High School, Cole signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf at Fayetteville State University beginning in the fall. With FSU's penchant for winning Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and national tournaments, Cole realized he didn't have to go far to compete against some of the best golfers in the country. BRONCOS FINISH FOURTH AT PGA DIVISION II MINORITY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Fayetteville State shot a final round 318 to finish with 87-over-par 951 at the 24th PGA Minority Collegiate Championships. Freshman Jedidiah Frazier (Havelock, NC), the Broncos' top individual performer, shot 10-over-par 226, good for third place. Frazier's 72 on Saturday was tied the lowest score in the second round with teammate Jeremy Ringled. FSU and eventual champion Morehouse College were the only schools to have teammates shoot 72 or better in the same round. [+]

Fayetteville State Golf Improves by 13 but Remains in Fourth at PGA Championships

The Broncos improved its score in the second round of the 24th Annual PGA Minority Collegiate Championships by 13 strokes but remains in the fourth slot. FSU shot a 310 on the day which was the second best score behind the leader Morehouse (301). Senior Jeremy Ringled dropped five strokes from his first round performance to finish even par (72). Freshman Jedidiah Frazier scored an Eagle on the #1 Hole which helped him finish the day with an even par also. After two rounds, they have a total score of 149 (5-over-par) which ties them for second along with Greg Hunt of Virginia State. The Broncos will start their final round with an 11:55 am tee time.
