Gedari Liverman ranked 3rd amongst FSU receivers in receiving yards and receiving TDs in his freshman season

Charlotte, NC – Fayetteville State University freshmen Gedari Liverman (Elizabeth City, NC) and Marquise Williams (Laurinburg, NC) have been elected to the 2015 CIAA All-Rookie Football Team. The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) in conjunction with its Football Coaches Association and Sports Information Directors voted on the CIAA All-Rookie Team. The team was announced Thursday, November 12th.

Liverman played in 10 games this season at the wide receiver position. He finished the season third on the team in receiving yards (299) and receiving touchdowns (2). Liverman had 19 receptions, averaging 15.7 yards per catch. He also returned five kickoffs for 103 yards and three punts for 13 yards. Williams saw action in nine contests this season at the linebacker spot. He recorded 21 total tackles (14 solo) and a forced fumble.

Williams had one tackle for a loss as well as a pass deflection and breakup. Virginia Union University running back Hakeem Holland received the 2015 CIAA Offensive Rookie of the Year honor. He was also named to the All-CIAA First Team in the running backs position. Holland ranks #2 in the conference in rushing touchdowns (10). He averaged 101.2 yards a game and led all rushers for the Panthers.

DeVonta’ High of Bowie State University was named the Defensive Rookie of the Year. He played in nine games during his collegiate start and amassed 26 tackles from the defensive back position. Fifteen of those were solo stops. High also forced one fumble and recovered two to go along with one pass breakup.

The Rookies of the Year will be honored during the championship’s pre-game activities on Saturday, November 14th at Durham County Memorial Stadium in Durham, NC.
