Hampton, VA - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) office announced on Monday that Fayetteville State University receiver, Darryl Barnett is the Receiver of the Week for the week ending November 3, 2008.

Barnett, a senior from Raeford, NC, concluded a stellar collegiate career during FSU's "Senior Day" domination over Livingstone. Barnett pulled down six catches for 105 yards. Half of his receptions found him in the end zone for a total of three touchdowns on the day. Barnett streaked down the sideline near the end of the first quarter for the Broncos' longest pass play. He took a pass 50 yards cross the goal line for his first TD reception.

On the Broncos first drive of the second quarter, Barnett was found 14 yards down the field pulling in his second of three touchdown receptions in the first half.

On the season, Barnett has 33 receptions for 486 yards and 12 receiving touchdowns (best in the CIAA). He is currently second in the conference in scoring; Barnett only trails teammate Richard Medlin who has 13 TDs.

Fayetteville State Football has received CIAA weekly honors five of the ten total weeks this season. Coach Kenny Phillips was Coach of the Week in week three, Dillon Kestner was Offensive Lineman of the Week in week five, and Kestner, Medlin, and quarterback Bryan Hardy were all named player of the week at their respective positions in week six. Now Barnett earns weekly honors in the final week of the regular season.
