FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Fayetteville State running back Colon Bailey, Jr., (Jr., Manteo, NC) has been selected as the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s Offensive Back of the Week for his performance last Saturday against the Saint Augustine’s Falcons.
Bailey, Jr. set a new career-high in rushing yards for the second straight week with 220 yards and two touchdowns on 37 carries in FSU’s 34-28 triple-overtime loss to the Falcons. His two touchdowns also tied a career-high. He averaged 5.9 yards per carry and had a long rush of 30 yards, while catching one pass for eight yards. His 220 yards rushing fell just 45 yards shy of tying the all-time single-game rushing record set back during the 1993 season by Clifton Davis.

Bailey, Jr. leads all running backs for Fayetteville State this season with 649 yards and seven touchdowns on 119 carries. He is averaging 81.1 rushing yards per game. Bailey, Jr. ranks fifth in the CIAA in rushing yards per game and is tied for fifth in rushing touchdowns.
He is the third Bronco this season, and second in as many weeks, to receive Player of the Week recognition by the conference. Linebacker Bryce Williams (Sr., St. Petersburg, FL) was tabbed CIAA Linebacker of the Week on Sept. 24, while free safety Michael Johnson (So., Raleigh, NC) received Defensive Back of the Week honors on Oct. 15.
