Hampton, VA - Two members of the Fayetteville State University football team have been recognized by the CIAA for weekly honors as announced by the conference office Monday morning.
Sophomore linebacker Anthony Wall has been named CIAA Defensive Lineman of the Week. In this past Saturday's 13-10 victory over Saint Augustine's College, the Fayetteville, NC native sealed the win for the Broncos with an interception to stop the Falcon's potential go ahead scoring drive in the closing minutes of the contest. He finished the day with seven total tackles including two tackles for 11 yards in losses, an interception, two sacks and two quarterback hurries.
Also earning CIAA honors is senior Roxbury, NH native Eric Lamoureux as the Specialty Player of the Week. In this weekend's game, he had the game winning 23-yard field goal in the Broncos' win over Saint Augustine's. He also had a field goal of 27 yards. Lamoureux punted 8 times for 346 yards; his longest was 57 yards. Five kicks were inside the 20 and his punting average was 43.2 yards per kick.
The Broncos will return to action on Saturday, October 20th for Homecoming 2007 as they play host to Shaw University. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm at Luther "Nick" Jeralds Stadium.
