FSU Broncos Richard Latimer Named CIAA Rookie of the Week

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Football Coaches and Sports Information Directors Associations named Fayetteville State's freshman quarterback Richard Latimer this week's Rookie of the Week.

Latimer, a native of Charlotte, NC who played high school football at West Charlotte, led the Broncos to a 24-21 last-second victory over Shaw University. Richard had his best performance of his rookie campaign against the Bears. He completed 19 of 28 passes for 222 yards with a completion percentage of 67.9%. Throwing two (2) touchdowns, his longest completion was for 38 yards.

Latimer has been the starting quarterback for three games. In his second start of the season, against Virginia Union, Latimer completed 13 of 28 passes for 211 yards with two touchdowns. His longest throw against the Panthers was for 76 yards. He has a total of 500 passing yards with three games played.

Richard Latimer is a mass communications major.

Fayetteville State will travel to Charlotte, NC this Saturday to take on the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 pm.
