Hampton, VA - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced on Monday, October 6th that Dillon Kestner, Bryan Hardy, and Richard Medlin were the players of the week for the week ending October 5, 2008.

Kestner, a sophomore center from Durham, NC, earned the Offensive Lineman of the Week honor for the second consecutive week. Kestner was a key component to the Broncos' win against Chowan on Saturday. FSU racked up 424 total offensive yards against the Hawks off of 66 total plays. Fayetteville State had 211 rushing yards from 44 attempts and 213 passing yards on 12 completions. The Broncos converted 100 percent of their fourth down conversions (5-of-5). The offense did not have any penalties except for one delay of game.

Senior quarterback Bryan Hardy earned the Offensive Back of the Week honor. Hardy led the Broncos with 213 passing yards, connecting on 12 of 20 passing attempts. Hardy, a Vanceboro, NC native, threw for three TDs, including a 61-yard touchdown strike in the heart of the Chowan defense. On the ground, Hardy scrambled for 70 yards and crossed the goal line on a TD run. His touchdown run was for 21 yards and he was only sacked once in the backfield.

Sophomore running back Richard Medlin took home the Specialty Player of the Week honor for his huge special teams' performance against Chowan. Medlin set the tone for the game when he took the opening kickoff back to the house with an 89-yard touchdown. Later in the fourth quarter, the Garner, NC native again maneuvered through traffic for an 85-yard kickoff return for another score. Medlin is a specialty player who ran for 47 yards on limited touches and pulled down a pass for 12 receiving yards and had a punt return for five yards for a total of 235 all-purpose yards. With the Broncos' versatile offense, Medlin walked into the end-zone on a three yard run to total three TDs on the night.
