Charlotte, NC - Three Fayetteville State University football student-athletes have garnered Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Week No. 3 Players of the Week accolades by the Football Coaches and Sports Information Directors' Association. Kick returner Brandon Smith will return to the P.O.W. list for the second time this season. Running back Stevie Green and linebacker Nigel Peele achieve their first for the 2017 season.

Brandon Smith (sophomore - Red Springs, NC) had a stellar performance in the Broncos 45-42 nail-biting loss to Elizabeth City State in the 20th Down East Viking Football Classic as a kick returner. Smith returned seven (7) kickoffs for 253 yards. In the middle of the fourth quarter, Brandon evened the score at 42-42 with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. For his performance, Brandon Smith was named the CIAA Special Teams Player of the Week.

Stevie Green (sophomore - Washington, NC) had a personal agenda going against Elizabeth City State. Having previously attended ECSU, Green gave his all in a 250-yard performance. With 23 touches, Stevie crossed the end zone four (4) times during the game for 16 points. Green scored the first points of the game from 20 yards out. He also scored the second touchdown for the Broncos on a 50-yard scamper. The third FSU score was when Stevie pushed the line for a five-yard touchdown. Having been shut out in the third quarter, Green put the Broncos back on the board and in a tie situation (35-35) with a 66-yard sprint down the sideline. His running landed him the Offensive Back of the Week accolades.

Nigel Peele (freshman - Greensboro, NC) led the Broncos' defensive effort with a game-high 13 tackles. He finished with four (4) solo stops and nine (9) assisted tackles. Peele was named the Linebacker of the Week.
