THE EVENT: The Broncos will look to rebound from its overall performance in 2011 with its season-opener in Durham, NC against North Carolina Central. As a kickoff to the Labor Day weekend, college football fans will be anxious for the 2012 season to kickoff at 6:00 p.m.
THE SERIES: Fayetteville State will be visiting O'Kelly-Riddick for the second time since the Eagles of North Carolina Central departed the CIAA en-route to the MEAC. The 33-22 victory over the Eagles in 2008 excelled the Broncos from a 4-6 finish in 2007 to an 8-2 successful season. In 32 meetings, NC Central has an astounding 23-9 advantage. Six of the nine victories for the Broncos were commanded by current Head Coach Kenny Phillips. Coach Phillips has 3-2 record in O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium.
Kenny Phillips has a 5-3 overall record in Durham, NC with wins over NC Central, Virginia Union and Bowie State.
Phillips has a 6-3 record against NC Central.
Phillips defeated Henry Frazier III's Bowie State twice in 2002. The 2nd game was for the CIAA Championship.
FSU has three quarterbacks and three tailbacks vying for starting roles.
FSU's Offensive Line is averaging 6-3 and 320 lbs.
FSU will be sporting a new offense under new Offensive Coordinator Mark Mejia.
Joshua Scales was the only Bronco named to the CIAA preseason team.

FAYETTEVILLE STATE UNIVERSITY
15 Chauncey Concepcion (QB) -- Named to the 2011 CIAA All-Rookie Team, Chauncey led the Broncos the position with 799 passing yards on 69-of-143 attempts. He also ranked 2nd in rushing with 336 yards.
11 Brandon Blumears-Cluff (QB) -- Entering his senior season, Cluff has developed into a viable leader of the Broncos offense. He shared the position last season and finished with 593 yards in 7 games; 41-102-4 throwing and 6 touchdowns.
12 Andreas Hudson (QB) -- Hudson played in three games for the Broncos in 2010. In the three appearances, he completed 18-of-29 passes for 117 yards with no picks.
22 Tyrel Bryant-Dove (TB) -- Bryant-Dove is a red-shirt powerhouse with the moves that could make him a starter for the Broncos. In his senior year of high school, he rushed for 1,716 yards on 202 carries and averaged 122.6 yards per game. The type of power FSU is looking for to move the chains.
24 Colon Bailey Jr. (TB) -- Bailey was the rock in the backfield last season leading the team with 637 yards on 148 attempts. The scoring power for FSU, he walked into the endzone 12 times.
13 Antonio Mayo (K/P) -- Antonio Mayo is into his red-shirt sophomore season with the Broncos. Last season, Mayo played in one game against Livingstone where he made his first field goal for 21 yards. The program will be looking to him for all kicking duties.
10 Joshua Scales (DB) -- Preseason All-CIAA, Joshua Scales pulled down seven interceptions last season in eight games to lead the CIAA and NCAA Division II.
50 Steven Moore (LB) -- Steven Moore was a factor on defense last season as a Freshman. He totaled 12.5 tackles for a loss of 65 yards in nine games. His 5.5 sacks netted 42 yards. Moore's total tackles (36) ranked him sixth on the team.
4 Marcus Witherspoon (DE) -- In his second season with the Broncos, Marcus Witherspoon will lead a 4-man defensive front of junior linemen. He ranked fourth on the defense in tackles for a loss.
21 Simeon Marshall (FS) -- Simeon Marshall was second behind Joshua Scales with five pass break-ups and six pass defended. He had one interception for a 46-yard return.

4 Geovonie Irvine (WR) -- Team's leading receiver in 2011 with 47 catches for 580 yards and 5 touchdowns.
18 Matt Goggans (QB) - Transfer from Fullerton College (Calif.) who is expected to start for the Eagles.
6 Ty Brown (LB) - Recorded 32 tackles with 3.0 sacks during first college season in 2011.
10 Marc Lewis (CB) - Top returning defender with 53 tackles and 9 pass defended (1 INT, 8 PBU) in 2011.
13 Xavier Proctor (DE) - Posted 37 tackles, including 7.5 hits for a loss with 3.5 sacks in 2011.
22 Arthur Goforth (RB) - Averaged 71.1 all-purpose yards per game in 2011 as a running back and return specialist.
49 Oleg Parent (PK) - topped team in scoring with 43 points in 2011, including 7-for-7 in field goals.
91 Chase Tripp (DL) - Led Eagles with 12.5 tackles for a loss with 3.5 sacks in 2011.
95 Stephen Young (DL) - Amassed 44 tackles, including 9.5 hits for a loss and 3.0 sacks in 2011
