Broncos Predicted to Finish #1 Overall

July 22, 2010

Petersburg, VA - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced the 2010 Pre-Season All-CIAA Team and the Predicted Order of Finish at their Annual Football Kick-off Press Conference held on the campus of Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA. The CIAA Football Coaches' Association selected Fayetteville State University to bear the infamous bull's-eye with the most number one votes. The coaches also selected Bronco' linemen Larry McDonald (Mebane, NC), Dillon Kestner (Durham, NC), and kicker Austin Turner (San Diego, CA) to the Pre-season All-CIAA Team. The press conference is archived online at www.livestream.com/ciaa.

FSU, the 2009 CIAA Champions, ranked above Shaw, Bowie State and Elizabeth City State to round out the top four. The Broncos finished 8-4 last season with an appearance in the NCAA Playoffs.

The 13-team football conference will now include two former members. Winston-Salem State, who was predicted to finish third in the CIAA Southern Division, and Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, who recently received full NCAA Division II status, will join the race for the conference title and a trip to the NCAA Regionals. The Lions were predicted to finish 13th overall.

Austin Turner was named to the Preseason All-CIAA Team as a Kicker and Punter

Austin Turner, the 2009 CIAA Special Teams Player of the Year, will represent FSU as the Place Kicker and the Punter on the pre-season team.

Fayetteville State University will report to camp on August 10 and begin their quest for a second back-to-back CIAA football crown on September 4, 2010 as they play UNC Pembroke in the Second Annual Two Rivers Classic.
