Fayetteville, NC - Approximately 600 student-athletes and celebrities attend the Fifth Annual Jimmy Raye Youth Foundation held in Capel Arena Tuesday, June 26, 2007. Raye, a graduate of E. E. Smith High and running back coach for the New York Jets, assembled a talented corps of past and present National Football League players to kick off the luncheon.
The luncheon, hosted by former Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Phil Simms, was joined by former Douglas Byrd standout receiver Joe Horn of the Atlanta Falcons, Hall of Famer Marcus Allen, Curtis Martin of the New York Jets, Jerricho Cotchery a former North Carolina State wide receiver from the New York Jets, and quarterback Chad Pennington of the Jets.
Other invited National Football League professionals presented by Nelson & Nelson Chiropractic were Tony Richardson, Ted Washington, Vonta Leach, Leon Washington, Marcus McNeill, Keenan McCardell, Todd Collins, and Stacey Tuff.
A free football clinic following the luncheon was held for youth ages 5-17 at E.E. Smith football field. This was the second year the event was held on the campus of Fayetteville State University.
