Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville State Broncos took care of business with a 55-20 win over Livingstone College on Saturday afternoon inside Luther "Nick" Jeralds Stadium to keep their CIAA Championship hopes alive.

With this being the last home game of the season, FSU recognized the following football student-athletes for Senior Day: linebacker Terrel Allen, receiver Darryl Barnett, defensive end Brandon Bouie, fullback Gavin Hardison, quarterback Bryan Hardy, and defensive back Donte' Wise.

FSU wasted no time putting points on the board in this contest. Sophomore quarterback Benjamin Williams (starting for the injured Bryan Hardy) connected with junior receiver Bobby Wilder for a 45-yard touchdown reception on the Broncos' first offensive play.

The points continued to stockpile against Livingstone; by halftime Fayetteville State was ahead 41-6. Williams completed 13-of-17 passes attempted for 198 yards and four touchdowns in the first half. Williams found senior receiver Darryl Barnett for three of his four touchdown tosses. Barnett finished the day with six catches for 105 yards and three scores.

The Blue Bears eventually crossed the goal line at the 3:15 mark in the second quarter. Running back Rashaad Flucker took a pass from quarterback Steven Williams 32 yards for the score. Place kicker Dominic Piscitello misfired on a two-point conversion pass attempt, which accounted for Livingstone's six points at the half.

In the second half, both teams put two more touchdowns on the board. Livingstone scored on a nine yard lob from Williams to receiver Chris Peoples in the third quarter. Then Williams hit receiver Travis Allen, who sprinted towards the end zone for an 80-yard touchdown reception for their final score in the fourth.

The Broncos other two scores came in the air and on the ground. Benjamin Williams reconnected with Wilder for a 10-yard touchdown catch in the third. Wilder concluded the day with four catches for 81 yards and two TDs. Sophomore running back Jarrod Lewis scored the Broncos' final touchdown on a two-yard run with 32 seconds remaining in the third period.

Fayetteville State's defensive unit produced six sacks, four interceptions, three fumble recoveries and 15 tackles for a loss. The Blue Bears were held to -22 yards rushing on 27 attempts. Junior safety Adrian Horton displayed a nose for the ball with five tackles (3 solo, 2 assists), two sacks for a loss of 22 yards, and an interception that he returned for 39 yards.

In their final performance at Jeralds Stadium, Donte' Wise had six tackles (3 solo, 3 assists) and an interception, Terrel Allen had a team-high seven tackles (3 solo, 4 assists), a sack, and three tackles for a loss. Brandon Bouie finished his day with two tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery.

Fayetteville State improves to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the CIAA. A great improvement from their 4-6 overall and 4-4 conference finish last season. Livingstone drops to 3-7 in the overall standings and 3-4 in the conference. The Broncos chances of representing the Western Division in the CIAA Championship game, rest on the result of the Shaw-Johnson C. Smith contest.

FSU is currently ranked number eight in the NCAA Division II Super Regional One poll. Earned access to the playoffs can be gained by a conference if a conference representative finishes in the top eight of the final super regional rankings. The top six teams generally make it to the playoffs, however the top eight are considered. If a conference champion is ranked 7th or 8th, then the team can be bumped to the 6th place spot.
