Darreall Hamlett (Yanceyville, NC) and junior quarterback DeMarius Davis (Sarasota, FL). Davis also completed passes to sophomore wide receiver Gedari Liverman (Elizabeth City, NC) to gain a few yards on plays.

By the end of the quarter, the Broncos continued on their march with an outstanding gain by redshirt freshman running back Stevie Green (Washington, NC). Neither team scored in the first quarter, but Chowan answered with a touchdown in the second quarter with a pass from quarterback Jordan Watkins to Edwin Thomas.

Fayetteville State attempted to put points on the board by the end of the first half. Green had an amazing first half performance by rushing for 126 yards the opening half. The Broncos defense finished the half with four sacks from senior defensive back Brian Walker (Charlotte, NC), senior defensive end Kiandre Thompson (Greensboro, NC), and junior linebackers Mongo Bolobiongo (Raleigh, NC) and Seth Johnson (Charlotte, NC).

In the second half, FSU got off to a good start with a pass from Davis to Liverman for 23 yards. However, the Hawks recovered on the scoreboard with another touchdown from a recovered fumble by Demetrius Newberry. Connor Killeen’s kick attempt was good, putting the Hawks ahead 14-0 at the end of three quarters.

In the fourth, Watkins had a fumble recovered in the end zone by redshirt freshman defensive end Darius Darden (Greensboro, NC) for the Broncos’ first score. During the final quarter, Darden had a second fumble recovery of the game.

On the next drive, Fayetteville State scored again with Davis scrambling six yards for a touchdown; but the extra point attempt failed. This left the Broncos trailing Chowan 14-13, nearing the end of the game. Within the final two minutes, Davis attempted more passes and rushed one for a gain of three yards, but the victory still remained with the Hawks.

Green rushed for 136 yards off 19 carries for FSU. Liverman caught seven passes for 91 yards. Johnson had a team-high eight tackles, including an assist on a sack. Thompson had six tackles and two sacks for a loss of 15 yards.
