Tyrone Jones has joined the FSU football coaching staff to lead and develop the wide receivers corp. He brings over 17 years of coaching experience on the collegiate level. Prior to connecting with the FSU family, Jones spent 10 seasons building success at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC.

In his first season at FSU (2014), Jones helped develop Chris Hubert into the top Broncos' pass catcher. Hubert led Fayetteville State in receiving yards (561), receptions (45), and receiving touchdowns (5). Hubert finished 8th in the CIAA for receiving yards per game. Three FSU receivers were in the top 20 of the CIAA for receiving yards.

While with the Monarchs football program, Jones coached defensive backs, defensive linemen, and wide receivers at some point. He also served as the assistant head coach, co-defensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator, and academic coordinator before leaving the program. Under his tutelage, Methodist won the 2013 USA South Conference Championship and the 2005 USA Conference Championship.

Jones also brings coaching experience from his time at Chowan University (2001-04) and Eastern New Mexico University (1999-2001); primarily as a defensive coach. He also has standout collegiate career as a student-athlete at Chowan as a defensive end. Jones earned most outstanding defensive lineman honors for three seasons (93, 94, and 96).

He completed his bachelors of science in Physical Education from Chowan and then went on to obtain a master's of science in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sports Administration from Eastern New Mexico.

As someone constantly looking for opportunities for professional development; Jones has participated in the NFL/NCAA Coaches Academy as well as coached in the FCS Senior Scout Bowl (North Team) and the DIII Senior Classic. Jones is also a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the North Carolina High School Coaches Association (NCHSCA).
