FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville State men’s basketball team wraps up a two-game home stand on Tuesday evening as it hosts the Virginia-Lynchburg Dragons at Felton J. Capel Arena. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be part of a double-header with the women’s basketball team. The Broncos will then take the next 13 days off before hitting the road for the next six games that stretches into the month of January.

Fayetteville State comes in with a 1-4 overall record after dropping its last contest at home to 15th-ranked Barton 75-65. The Dragons are currently 4-5 and have yet to play a home game this season.

The Broncos head into the Tuesday night matchup averaging 68.8 points per game and is led on offense by Anthony Shelton (So., Cary, NC) and Tyrrel Tate (Jr., Raleigh, NC). Shelton has started in all five games for Fayetteville State and is averaging a team-high 17.8 points per game. He is shooting 48% from the field and 46% behind the three-point line. Tate is scoring 15.4 points per game and has also started in all five games. He is shooting 55% from the field and 80% from the free-throw line. Louis Craft (Jr., Fayetteville, NC) has grabbed a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game, while Andre Best (Sr., Raleigh, NC) has dished out 3.8 assists per game.

Fayetteville State will be facing Virginia-Lynchburg for the first time under fourth-year head coach Alphonza Kee. The Dragons play in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. They are averaging 71.2 points per game and are giving up 81.0 points per game. Virginia-Lynchburg is shooting 44.1% as a team and 30% behind the three-point line.
