FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville State men’s basketball team will return to Felton J. Capel Arena on Tuesday evening after spending the last three games on the road. The Broncos will host the Barton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. in their lone contest this week before the Thanksgiving break.

Fayetteville State will enter the midweek showdown with a 1-3 overall record while the Bulldogs come in 4-0, which includes a 2-0 mark against teams in the CIAA.

This will be the second meeting in the last week between the two teams. Barton defeated FSU in Wilson, NC 84-79 in their first meeting this season. The Broncos had three players post double-digit figures in points scored as Tyrrel Tate (Jr., Raleigh, NC) scored a team-high 20 points, while Anthony Shelton (So., Cary, NC) had 19 points and Andre Best (Sr., Raleigh, NC) added 10. Brian McNair led the Bulldogs with a game-high 23 points and was one of three players to score 10 or more points. Fayetteville State trailed by as much as 17 points midway through the second half in the first meeting, but rallied late to cut its deficit to five points. That would be as close as the Broncos got as Barton made several late free-throws to capture the victory.

The Broncos have two players averaging 10 points or more per game this season in Shelton (17.8) and Tate (16.0). Shelton is also leading the team this season with 4.5 assists per game and Tate averages 5.5 rebounds per game. Louis Craft (Jr., Fayetteville, NC) has made his mark for Fayetteville State in his first season with the program grabbing a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game and is shooting 60% from the field.

The Bulldogs have three players currently averaging double-digit points per game. Gerald Boston leads the team in scoring at 22.5 points and 5.8 assists per game this season and is followed by Jon Hart at 14.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. McNair also averages 13.2 points per game.

FSU will take a week off and return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 27 when it hosts Virginia-Lynchburg at 7:30 p.m.
