Fayetteville, N.C. - Fayetteville State University men's basketball head coach Sam Hanger announced the signing of Malcolm Jay and Darshawn Johnson to a national letter of intent to play basketball for the Broncos for the upcoming season.
After leading Montgomery College-Germantown (located in Maryland) to one of its finest seasons in school history, Malcolm Jay and Darshawn Johnson decided that they wanted to continue their college career together.
Jay, a 6-7 forward, was a preseason first-team All-American selection after averaging 20.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game a season ago. MC Germantown men's basketball head coach Xavier Joyner says, "Jay brings great low-post moves and he excels in transition and he's a good shot blocker."
Johnson, a 6-4 sophomore guard, was averaging 22 points a game before suffering and injury in the seventh game of the season last year. Joyner says "Johnson, I would term as an explosive jumper and a very strong player." "He scores from inside and outside and runs the floor very well."
"We're excited to have these two young men join our program, it gives us some more size, and hopefully they'll be able to contribute immediately", says Coach Hanger.
The Broncos kickoff their season November 2, 2007 against The University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK.
