FAYETTEVILLE STATE MEN’S BASKETBALL SUFFERS HEARTBREAKING 51-49 LOSS TO SAINT AUGUSTINE’S
The Fayetteville State University men’s basketball fell short of victory in a 51-49 divisional loss to Saint Augustine’s University on Saturday, February 18th at Emery Gymnasium. FSU moves to 10-15 overall, 6-10 in the CIAA, and 4-6 in the division.

Fayetteville State enters this matchup with a 1-1 series record against Saint Augustine’s this season. Both teams won on their home floor by two points in the closing seconds. The Broncos play their first 2017 CIAA Tournament game after earning a first day bye as the Southern No. 4 seed. The Falcons survived their first tournament game against Lincoln (PA) with a 61-60 victory to advance to this round.

Saint Augustine’s (13-15 overall) has won three of their last four games, including a 51-49 win over FSU to conclude the regular season. SAU entered this year’s tournament as the Southern No. 6 seed.

This will be the 111th matchup between Fayetteville State and Saint Augustine’s, which dates back to 1947. Both teams have 55 wins, so ironically, today’s game will serve as a series tiebreaker.
