Charlotte, NC – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) has elected Fayetteville State University men’s basketball redshirt freshman guard Josh Bryant (Fayetteville, NC) to the 2017 CIAA All-Rookie Team. Selections are chosen by the Men’s Basketball Coaches Association and the Sports Information Directors Association.

Bryant played in 24 games and started 22 during the regular season. He averaged a team-high 12 points per game, along with 4.6 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.3 assists. Bryant had season-highs of 38 minutes and 23 points against Virginia Union (Jan. 7). He earned CIAA Rookie of the Week honors on two occasions during the year.

Bryant shot 50% (118-232) from the floor and 62% (51-82) from the free throw line. He capped the season with his only double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds versus Saint Augustine’s.

“It’s a privilege to represent the CIAA and Fayetteville State as an All-Rookie selection,” said Bryant. “I share this recognition with my teammates and our coaching staff for helping to put me in position to succeed.”

Along with Bryant, Roger Ray of Livingstone, Robert Colon of Winston-Salem State, John Maynor of Elizabeth City State, and David Belle of Bowie State were also named to the Men’s CIAA All-Rookie Team. The student-athletes selected will be formally recognized during the annual CIAA Tip-Off Awards Luncheon held at the Charlotte Convention Center on February 20th.
