Fayetteville, NC
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Student-athletes progress through the years with having the definition of poise and tenacity explained over and over. Tonight in Felton J. Capel Arena, Fayetteville State (8-5 overall, 3-1 CIAA) epitomized examples of poise and tenacity in its 66-55 victory over Lincoln (PA). The Broncos trailed at halftime by six (26-20) after leading the majority of the first half. Lincoln (8-5 overall, 1-3 CIAA) gave a valiant effort to hold the cushion at intermission. The Lions exchanged a nine-point deficit (18-9) with 8:11 left with a one-point lead (21-20) with 3:32 before halftime.

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Fayetteville State men's basketball team makes its longest road trip of the season - and the last one outside of North Carolina - beginning Thursday night at Lincoln (PA). Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by games at Virginia Union on Saturday and Monday, respectively. The Broncos are trying to get a heartbreaking loss to Elizabeth City State off their mind. In that contest, the Vikings' A.J. Johnson hit a 3-pointer with under five seconds left to give ECSU a 69-68 win.

FSU has nine wins this season, the same victory total it compiled all of last season. Another win would match the 2011-12 mark and six more would equal the number of wins put up in 2010-11, Alphonza Kee's best as head coach.

It is the Broncos' first trip to Lincoln since Jan. 12, 2012, when the Lions got the better of a 78-75 decision.

Lincoln is one of just three teams in the Northern Division with a CIAA win. The Lions topped Winston-Salem State, 73-71, on Saturday. Every team in the Southern Division has at least two conference wins. Livingstone and Shaw are 3-0. St. Augustine's is 2-0. Johnson C. Smith, Fayetteville State and Winston-Salem State are each 2-1.

Tyrrel Tate is 10th in the conference at 16.3 points per game. Joshua Dawson continues to lead the CIAA in assists per game, at 5.5.

The Broncos are in their 71st season of competition and boast an 851-949 all-time record and 398-462 record in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. FSU's lone conference tournament championship came during the 1972-73 campaign. The Broncos played in six tournament championship games.

Elizabeth City State Recap
FSU would like to forget much of its contest against ECSU on Monday. The Broncos had their moments, including a 15-0 run starting the second half. But the Vikings came back, and ultimately it was AJ Johnson who ruined the Broncos' night, draining a 3-pointer with under five seconds left to snap FSU's winning streak at six and give ECSU a 69-68 win.

Joshua Dawson finished with a team-high 15 points. Tyrrel Tate had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Lincoln (PA) Scouting Report
The Lions are under the direction of fourth-year head coach John Hill. Hill has made quick work turning around the program from a 4-23 (2-15 CIAA) team in his first season to a Northern Division championship season (17-10, 10-6) last year.

Lincoln specializes at not turning the ball over, losing it a conference-least 11.6 times per game. The Lions are also a defensive juggernaut, surrendering just 68.8 points per contest.

Derrick Washington (13.8 ppg), George Jackson (13.4 ppg) and Justin Jackson (11.3 ppg) all average in double figures.

All-Time Series With Lincoln (PA)
This is the 10th meeting between these teams dating back to the 1937-38 season. FSU leads the all-time series, 5-4.

The Broncos won last year's meeting, 66-55 in Capel Arena. Louis Craft was dominant in that one, posting a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds.
