Greensboro, NC -Fayetteville State visited NCAA Division I North Carolina A&T's Corbett Sports Center for a precursor to its November 9th opening night. The Aggies defeated the Broncos 78-47 in the exhibition game as FSU looked to size itself with the experience. Returning leaders Anthon Shelton and Tyrrel Tate led the effort with 15 and 12 points, respectfully. NC A&T led at intermission 49-26.

"We have work to do, said Coach Kee. "We had two objectives coming into this game; be successful and evaluate the kids. It was a good opportunity to see guys play in a game-like atmosphere. It was positive for me as we get ready for opening night."

Fayetteville State shot 29.6% from the field making 16 of 54 shots. The tempo was up-beat and fast. The Aggies shot 37.1 % (26 of 70) from the field and scored 16 fast break points and 20 points off of turnovers. NC A&T led the rebounding challenge 55-35.

Shelton, a sophomore from Cary, NC, made 3-of-5 in three-pointers while Tate (Jr., Raleigh, NC) followed with 2-of-3. Louis Craft (Jr., Fayetteville, NC) finished the game with eight defensive boards and five blocked shots.

MEAC member, North Carolina A&T had three to finish in double-figures. Jean Louisme (Sr., Ft. Myers, FL) led all with 18 points while Lamont Middleton (Jr., Bronx, NY) finished with 13 and Austin Witter (Sr., Princeton Junction, NY) with ten.

"A&T did a good job of executing. That is something we need to work on," added Coach Kee. "We had too much intensity on offense with not enough poise. We needed patience and poise. We tried to win a game instead of run our stuff. I thought they did an outstanding job having poise on the other end."

Both Fayetteville State basketball programs and cheerleaders will have a public appearance on November 8 at The Cookout located on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville. The event, co-sponsored by Coca-Cola and local radio station Foxy 99, will be held from 6-8 p.m.

The Broncos will officially tip-off the regular season with a double-header on Friday, November 9th against Barber-Scotia College. Game-time is set for 5:30 pm for the women and 7:30 for the men. General Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children.
