Final Stats

Raleigh, NC – Fayetteville State suffered an 85-75 loss to Shaw University in the C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.

Four Broncos finished in double-digits with Joshua Smith (Fayetteville, NC) leading the way with 18 points. Willie Gilmore (Fayetteville) followed with a close 15 points while Josh Bryant (Fayetteville) and Xavier Williams chipped in 12 and 10, respectively.

The Shaw Bears (19-8, 11-4 CIAA, 7-2 South) jumped to an early lead in the first half with a 19-7 lead by the first media timeout. Fayetteville State (7-19, 4-11, 3-6) closed the gap to four (42-38) heading into the halftime intermission.

FSU moved even closer to trail by one (44-43), but an 11-0 run by the Bears would give Shaw a cushion that they would maintain until time expired.

Fayetteville State will host its final regular season game on Saturday, February 24th with a salute to its seniors. The Broncos will tip against Saint Augustine’s at 4:00 p.m.
