Fayetteville, NC - Prior to the game, Fayetteville State paid homage to six seniors, who will never play collegiate basketball in Capel Arena again. James Wooten (Fayetteville, NC) played his last game in early January before the Spring semester began. Andy Gebru (Orlando, FL), Malcolm Jay (Washington, DC), Darshawn Johnson (Brooklyn, NY), Eddie Brown (St. Petersburg, FL), and Malcolm Young (Gastonia, NC) had a memorable final game in Capel Arena. Johnson C. Smith (19-7 overall, 12-6 CIAA) completed its sweep over the Broncos with an 85-70 victory.

Fayetteville State (12-13 overall, 6-11 CIAA) committed 18 turnovers for the game which led to the 29 Golden Bull points. The Broncos stayed alive in the first half out-rebounding JCSU 19-13 and had 12 second chance points compared to four. JC Smith held the slim lead at halftime 36-33.

Ryan Scott blew the game out of proportion for JCSU with 4-of-9 three-point shooting which led to his game high 23 points. The Golden Bulls made 8-of-18 from behind the arc to the Broncos 3-of-13. JC Smith also had a better game from the charity stripe with 85.2%. Fayetteville State struggled with 11-of-20 for 55%.

Junior guard Jason Thompson (Sanford, NC) led the way for Fayetteville State with 15 points. Three other Broncos scored 11 points each; Andy Gebru, Malcolm Jay, and Davon Hood (Junior / Forward / Charlotte, NC). Sophomore point guard Jarrick Jones finished with ten points.

Ronald Thornhill and Jerry Hollis of Johnson C. Smith also finished in double-figures with 17 and 13 points respectfully.

Fayetteville State will play its final regular-season game on Thursday, February 19 in Salisbury, NC as the Broncos look to avenge a recent loss to Livingstone.
