FAYETTEVILLE, NC -- Livingstone entered Felton J. Capel Arena and immediately pounced to a 19-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the game. The lead reached its highest peak of 23 (31-8) with 7:51 left and once again (34-11) with 5:35 remaining in the first half. Fayetteville State (8-14 | 3-10 CIAA | 0-7 Div.) cut the deficit to 11 by halftime (23-34) and missed two opportunities in the final minute to seize advantage. Livingstone improves to 17-5 overall, 9-4 in the CIAA and 5-2 in the Southern Division with the 58-54 victory.
Louis Craft (Junior - Fayetteville, NC) made his presence known for the Broncos with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Tyrrel Tate finished with 15 points.
Mark Thomas made 5-of-8 three-pointers for Livingstone to lead the game with 19 points. Ethan Anderson scored 15 points while Tyler Johnson pulled in 11 rebounds.
The Broncos made the comeback possible by forcing the Blue Bears into 20 turnovers which led to 22 points. Livingstone went cold on the night with its last field goal made with 3:52 left.
FSU will travel to Winston-Salem State on Saturday, February 16 for a 7:30 pm matchup while Livingstone travels to Johnson C. Smith.
