Elizabeth City, NC - Fayetteville State University men's basketball had a fighting chance in a non-conference snowy matchup against Elizabeth City State University. Denzell Hosch's 21-point performance was slighted by a pair of turnovers which doomed the Broncos in a 63-62 loss to the Vikings in the R.L. Vaughn Center.

A three-point play by Zaccheus Hobbs gave ECSU a one-point advantage (60-59) with 1:55 minutes left in the game and back-to-back turnovers led to a Shyheid Petteway steal and layup. Down by three (62-59) with 47 seconds remaining, a turnover and foul contributed to another free throw by Hobbs.

Jordan Brown nailed a desperation three for the 63-62 final score. Brown finished the game with his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Bryant finished with 13 points. Hosch made 5-of-10 threes and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line.

Hosch led the first half with 17 points which led to a slight 34-32 halftime lead for Fayetteville State. FSU led by six (48-42) early in the second half with 12:03 left in the game.

The Broncos shot 42% (21 of 50) from the field and 40% (8 of 20) in three-pointers. ECSU was slightly better from the floor with 44.9% (22 of 49) but not from beyond the arc, 9-of-24 three-pointers for 37.5%. FSU was also better at the charity stripe with 12-of-19 free throws made. Elizabeth City State shot 58.8%, 10-of-17.
