FSU MEN'S BASKETBALL ADDS SIX NEWCOMERS FOR 2010-11

Entering his second year in charge of the Fayetteville State men's basketball program, Head Coach Alphonza Kee continues to bring an influx of talent to the Broncos' program. Kee and FSU will welcome six newcomers in the fall. Devin Thompson, a 6-foot-4 guard from Jack Britt High School in Fayetteville and Tyrell Tate, 6-foot-5 small forward and Donzell Hill, a 6-foot-7 forward, from Millbrook High School in Raleigh, NC will highlight the freshman class. Members of the FSU mens basketball team have volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club and Salvation Army over the last year.

Far from the cheering crowds of the CIAA and the glitz and glamour of the annual conference tournament, the Fayetteville State men's basketball team has accomplished something great. Spurred on by Head Coach Alphonza Kee and assistant coach Vernal Maynard, members of the team regularly volunteer with the Boys and Girls Club and the Salvation Army in Fayetteville. [+]

Fayetteville honored its student-athletes and celebrated the 2009 CIAA Golf and Football Champions and the 2009-10 CIAA Womens Basketball Champions.

FSU HONORS STUDENT-ATHLETES AT ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

Fayetteville State put a cap on the 2009-10 athletic season at the 25th annual athletic awards banquet held Wednesday inside Capel Aprena. Junior Tiffany Haywood (Fayetteville, NC) and senior Marcos Esquivel (Kearny, AZ) were honored as the female and male athletes of the year. Juniors Kristy Mitchell (Fayetteville, NC) and Paul Murphy (Charlotte, NC) were given the female and male meritorious awards. Ray Thomas, host of the Bronco Café on 91.9 WFSS and voice of the Broncos, presided over the event and assisted in paying homage more than 200 student athletes in nine sports at FSU. [+]
