GARNER, NC – The Fayetteville State women’s cross country team recorded a second place finish at the Shaw University Mid-Week Cross Country Meet, which was held on Oct. 10 at Lake Benson State Park. The Lady Broncos had four runners place inside the top 10, while all six recorded career-best finishes.

Amanda Anderson (So., Hope Mills, NC) posted the highest individual finish for Fayetteville State as she placed second with a time of 24:39. Anderson has been the top finisher for the Lady Broncos in all three of their meets this season. Renee Guischard (Fr., Fayetteville, NC) ran a time of 26:43 and finished behind Anderson in third place. Brittany Wilkens (Fr., Greenville, NC) followed with a sixth place finish and time of 27:37. Chiquanna Anderson (Fr., Washington, DC) rounded out the top 10 finishers for Fayetteville State as she placed eighth with time of 28:45.

Nia Trawick (Fr., Fayetteville, NC) had a strong showing for the Lady Broncos with an 11th place finish and time of 29:46. Dasnii Curtis (Fr., Austin, TX) completed the course in 33:40 for a 14th place finish.

Shaw captured the team competition with 29 total points, followed Fayetteville State at 30 points and Elizabeth City State in third place with 68 points. The Bears’ Sammara Green won the individual race with a time of 23:29.

The Lady Broncos will return to action on Friday, Oct. 12 as they travel to Charlotte, NC to participate in the Queens University Royals XC Challenge. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
