Cary, NC -- The Fayetteville State's cross-country team has been set to task since Head Cross Country Coach Inez Turner accepted the position in July. The newly renovated program has been the talk of the CIAA with top three finishes all season.

This past Saturday (October 7th), the Broncos' third-place finish was the sweetest ever. The women's cross-country team scored 100 points at the Great American Cross Country Festival's HBCU Challenge and trailed Hampton University (25) and North Carolina A&T State University (47).

What makes this finish so great, you ask?

Fayetteville State defeated Coach Turner's former squad, Winston-Salem State University, by 57 points. The Rams of WSSU finished fifth overall with 157 points. FSU also had the better of eight (8) other CIAA institutions. Saint Augustine's finished sixth (171) while Livingstone was seventh (174). Bowie State trailed at ninth (195) with Virginia Union (270), Virginia State (285), Lincoln (Pa.) (296), Shaw (364), and Chowan (374) bringing up the rear.

"I am so proud of where we are," said Head Coach Turner.
