PLEASANT GARDEN, NC – The Fayetteville State men’s cross country team finished in 13th place out of 16 teams at the Hagan Stone XC Classic, which took place on Oct. 6 at Hagan Stone Park.
Howard Community College captured the overall event, and was followed in the top five by Duke University Club, Guilford College, Pfeiffer and Wake Forest Running. The Broncos were one of three teams from the CIAA to participate in the meet, and finished third among them behind Saint Augustine’s and Shaw.
Ernest Hawkins (Jr., Raleigh, NC) and Douglas Jackson (So., Atlanta, GA) were the top two finishers for Fayetteville State at Hagan Stone as Hawkins finished 46th with a time of 30:11.24, while Jackson posted a time of 31:28.31 and finished in 68th place.
Brandon Elmore (So., Fayetteville, NC) placed 116th for the Broncos with a time of 37:45.55, Taron Sanders finished with a time of 37:57.66 for a 118th place finish and Anthony Mullen (So., Newport News, VA) followed in 120th place and a time of 38:39.81. Quincy Peterson (So., Washington, DC) and Andrew Brassard (Fr., Fayetteville, NC) rounded out the competition for Fayetteville State in 122nd and 131st places, respectively. Peterson recorded a time of 38:46.82 and Brassard ended with a time of 44:18.78.
The Broncos will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 12 as they travel to Charlotte, NC to participate in the Queens University Royals XC Challenge, which will begin at 3:30 p.m.
