Final Stats

CARY - Tamikka Protee placed 35th overall out of 119 runners to pace the Fayetteville State women's cross country team in its meet on Saturday at the HBCU Challenge.

Portee completed the 5-kilometer race in 22 minutes, 0.9 seconds to lead the Lady Broncos, who also got a 58th-place finish from Kenya Vice (23:14.4). Keisha Edwards (68th, 23:45.6), Kezie Wmaniki (31:35.5) and Danielle Boone (38:10.6) rounded out the Fayetteville State scoring as the Lady Broncos placed 15th overall, ahead of four other teams, including CIAA members Lincoln (PA), Johnson C. Smith and St. Paul's. Hampton won the event.

In the men's 8K race, the Broncos were led by Earnest Hawkins, who placed 43rd out of 119 runners with a time of 29:38.4. Britton Crum was 65th at 31:09.5 while the Broncos' Ervin Brinkley (33:00.4), Joshua Morales (33:58.0) and James Glenn (36:58.6) helped Fayetteville State a 14th-place finish overall. That finish was better than three teams, including CIAA members Virginia Union and Livingstone.
