Fayetteville, NC -- Fayetteville State University director of sports medicine and head athletic trainer Carlitta Moore has received the 2015-16 FSU Employee of the Year Award for Excellence. Moore accepted the award during the annual faculty/staff appreciation luncheon held inside the Rudolph Jones Student Center on Wednesday, May 18th.
Along with the distinguished honor, Moore receives a plaque, leave time, an Employee of the Year parking space, and submission to the North Carolina Governor's Award for Excellence program. The Governor's Awards for Excellence is the highest honor a state employee may receive.
Moore was nominated and ultimately honored in the category of Outstanding Public Service. Her level of public service and commitment towards the university and its students has been second to none. Her most notable outstanding service has been her fundraising efforts that led to her becoming the youngest winner of the Miss FSU Alumni Campaign.
During her campaign, Moore raised over $27,000 towards scholarships for FSU students.
In the realm of community service, Moore has raised funds or had a participatory role this year in the March of Dimes, the Ribbon Walk & Run for Cancer, Operation Inasmuch Baptist Church, and the FSU "Ball In Pink" initiative in support of the Cape Fear Friends of Cancer Foundation.
"I'm extremely excited and honored to receive this award," stated Moore. "All my service has been done simply out of love for the university. I'm grateful to be recognized, but there are a lot of people who helped me reach this point and I share the honor with them all."
Moore recently completed her third year as the director of sports medicine and head athletic trainer at Fayetteville State. She is an alumna with Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. Moore worked towards her education at FSU as a Chancellor's Scholar.
Moore later received her Masters of Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2009. Her course study was Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Athletic Training.
She has a continued focus on professional development and active involvement as a member of various athletic training and campus organizations including: UNC Staff Assembly, Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association, National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), National Athletic Trainers' Association Career Assistance Project Team, North Carolina Athletic Trainers' Association, NATA Young Professionals committee and the NATA Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee.
Currently, Moore serves as President of the Alumni Campus Employees (A.C.E.) Chapter of the Fayetteville State University National Alumni Association. She also serves on the FSU Staff Senate, Campus Safety and Security Committee, and the Sexual Misconduct Task Force.
Additionally, she is the Third-Vice President and Treasurer of the Gamma Upsilon Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, the Co-Advisor of the Omega Upsilon Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on the campus of Campbell University, and the Advisor of the Omega Beta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on the campus of FSU. Moore is also a member of New Genesis Fresh Start Ministries where she serves as Vice-President of the Women's Ministry.
Moore is a native of Charlotte, NC and a 2007 graduate of Fayetteville State University.
