Dr. LaWanda Miller Named the CIAA Senior Woman Administrator of the Year

Charlotte, NC – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association in conjunction with its Senior Woman Administrators (SWA) Association named Fayetteville State University’s Dr. LaWanda Miller the 2018 CIAA SWA of the Year during its annual Spring General Assembly Meeting and End-of-the-Year Awards Reception in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dr. Miller has been the driving force behind the Broncos’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) that recently won the inaugural LGBT SportSafe DII/III Challenge. As the SAAC Advisor, Fayetteville State has been very active on campus and in the community with Mental Health Awareness, Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Awareness and many other CIAA/NCAA Community Service initiatives.

A central theme in her life has always been to serve in a capacity that would enhance diversity and expand opportunities for women with a special focus on minority opportunities within the athletics community. In addition to serving as the Broncos SWA, Dr. Miller is also the Assistant Athletics Director for Business Affairs, the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Athletics, and the Head Cheer Phi Smoov Cheerleading Coach.

Dr. Miller is a member of the CIAA Management Council and Diversity and Inclusion Committee as well as the Women Leaders in College Sports and National Council for Pay Equity.
