The Health, Physical Education and Recreation Complex, completed in 1995 and known as one of the best in the NCAA's Division II, was named after Felton J. Capel, a Fayetteville State University Board of Trustee Member.
The Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building also boasts an indoor walking track, an aerobics studio, racquetball courts, outdoor tennis courts, weight rooms and the athletic department's athletic training facility.
In addition to serving as the home floor for the Broncos' men's and women's basketball teams, Capel Arena also has hosted graduations, concerts, step shows and probates. The arena also hosts the annual Athletics Banquet.
